KoskiPly Economy

KoskiPly Economy is a plywood panel made of cross-glued birch veneers with a rotary cut, unpatched 0.5mm surface veneer. The difference to KoskiFlex is in the core, economy panels have thicker interlayers and a lower number of plies than traditional thin plywood (KoskiFlex).

Very strong thin veneer plywood for applications that require bending strength and flexibility

KoskiPly Economy is a strong yet flexible thin plywood made in Finland from birch, a renewable raw material. The versatile and cost-effective panel is suitable for a variety of applications, where only the sky and imagination are the limits. Thin plywood is especially suitable for products and objects made by laser cutting or engraving, such as jewelry, miniature models and other items. Economy structure boards are available in nominal thicknesses of 3.0 – 6.0 mm in our web shop.

Various thicknesses of birch veneers are used in the production, depending on the nominal thickness of the final product. The surface of the thin plywood has a seamless birch veneer, the wood grain patterns of which give the board a natural, stylish and individual finish. The surface of the board can be left untreated, allowing the natural grain patterns to show through beautifully. You can also treat the surface with varnish, wax or stain like any other wood surface.

The difference between Koskiply Economy and KoskiFlex thin plywood is in the structure

The core veneers of Economy panels are thicker (~1.0mm) when compared to KoskiFlex panels. The nominal thickness and structure in the panel is achieved with a smaller number of plies. The surface veneer is ~0.5 mm thick.

Traditional thin plywood is made of thinner veneers and there are several plies in a panel. These layers give the panels the necessary strength and structure. For example, Economy panels 3.0mm are 4-layer and KoskiFlex boards are 3.0mm thick and 6-layer. Birch thin plywood boards are extremely strong due the Finnish birch quality. With the Economy structure, we manufacture boards from 3.0mm upwards, traditional thin plywood from the thickness of 0.4mm.

Birch plywood boards made of veneers can be processed by laser cutting, CNC machine or traditional woodworking machines.

Thin plywood is flexible, lightweight and easy to work with any woodworking machine. Non-toxic and food-safe thin plywood can be safely cut into desired shapes or engraved with laser cutting machines. Thanks to its easy workability, you can make both larger shapes for furniture parts and small objects, such as plywood jewelry or decorative objects suitable for interior decoration. The most imaginative shapes and products are easy to work with thin plywood, which does not crack or break when working with the board. The boards in the online store have AB/B surfaces, meaning one side of the board is AB quality and the other is B. Like any other natural wood material, there might be some some knots or knotholes and other natural characteristics. The surface can be treated with wax, oil or other surface treatment.
